There are lots of ways we can work together. Most people don’t really know what they need — that’s why we offer our free financial consultation so I can advise you on your potential courses of action.

Ongoing Services

This is an enduring relationship defined by planned engagements throughout the year to monitor progress, discuss relevant and timely issues, and address any new financial objectives.

We provide an array of personalized asset allocation and portfolio management strategies so our clients can choose how they implement their prescribed actions. Clients can choose Canopy FinSol to manage some or all of their investment portfolio.

  • Investment management fees by default are deducted from client investment account(s) each month.

    Clients receives an automatically generated invoice each month; however no action is necessary.

    Asset Under Management (AUM) Fee:

    • 1% AUM annual advisor fee for all asset tiers

    • Charged monthly as 8.33bps (or 0.0833%)

    • Fee billing begins when account value reaches $1,000

    • Compensates advisor for portfolio analysis, creation, monitoring, trading, and rebalancing

    • While I do not have any investment minimums, I charge a $500 annual retainer for households with less than $150,000 combined AUM

    Tax IQ Overlay Fee:

    • 10bps annually (in addition to the standard 1% AUM Advisor Fee)

    • Applied to taxable (non-qualified) accounts only

    • Suite of tools that offer focused sensitivity to wash sales, realized gains, and tax loss harvesting

    • These tools may reduce your end-of-year tax bill or even add after-tax performance in the form of tax savings - sometimes called tax alpha

    Platform / Strategist Fee:

    • Applicable in rare situations for third-party portfolio strategies (i.e. non-Canopy FinSol portfolios)

    • These are in addition to the 1% AUM Advisor Fee and on average range from 12bps to 45bps annually

    Client-Advisor Engagement & Deliverables:

    • Under a standard Investment Management relationship, we will conduct a thorough financial profile and Checkpiont Review semi-annually

    • Address relative and timely topics necessary to maintain a secure financial foundation

    • Includes access to client portal and dashboard that tracks key financial metrics and retirement forecast

    • More in-depth planning and deliverables are available at additional agreed upon flat fee or hourly rate

  • Canopy FinSol at its core is about providing BETTER solutions to MORE people — this can only be done by understanding the industry and simplifying complexities so that regular people can afford and UNDERSTAND a quality wealth management experience.

    Financial planning is a highly analytical and time consuming process that requires investment in modern software and technology necessary to produce a more accurate and comprehensive financial plan.

    We offer enhanced planning & engagement packages for clients who have more comprehensive needs beyond the standard semi-annual Investment Management reviews.

    Planning Fees (AUM Clients):

    • Annual base planning fee starts at $500

    • Available to clients with at least $50,000 in AUM with Canopy Financial

    • Total fee depends on specific need, complexity, and estimated time to complete required deliverables

    Planning Fees (No AUM, Self-Managed Assets):

    • Can accommodate your planning needs even if you don’t have any invested assets with Canopy Financial

    • Useful for those who prefer to manage their own assets or leave with current broker or advisor

    • Annual base planning fee starts at $750

    • Total fee depends on specific need, complexity, and estimated time to complete required deliverables

    Client-Advisor Engagement & Deliverables:

    • Includes same client portal and dashboard access as with Standard Investment Management, PLUS

    • Three annual Checkpoint Reviews to monitor progress and update accordingly

    • Enhanced access to client portal resources and personalized written plan with executive summary, recommendations, and implementation guidance

Point-In-Time Services

There are circumstances where an ongoing relationship is either not desirable or not necessary. In these cases, I’m happy to offer my full attention and advice at an hourly rate, or through the creation and delivery of a One Time Plan (OTP) that addresses more singular financial objectives.

I’ve created a menu of OTPs based on common requests from clients and niche financial situations. I will work with you to address your unique concern at the most favorable rate possible, whether it be hourly or flat fee.

  • This is advice given to a client about a specifically chosen topic and billed at an hourly rate.

    Typically the client does not receive a deliverable product aside from the advice itself.

    Hourly Rate:

    • $250 per hour

    • 15-minute increments ($62.50)

  • This list is not all-inclusive. I’m happy to work with you on a custom solution at an agreeable rate.

    • Second Opinion (Fees, Risk, Strategy, Allocation) - $1,000

    • Enhanced Succession Planning - $550 (Personal) / $750 (Business)

    • VGLI and Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) Analysis - $500

    • Financial Concerns in Separation and Divorce - $700

    • Healthcare Planning in Retirement (Medicare, Medicaid, and Long-Term Care) - $500

    • Social Security Optimization - $500

    • Protection Needs Analysis (Insurance, Estate Planning, “Next Best Dollar”) - $500

    • Workplace Benefits Review - $500 (Standard) / $750 (Executive incentives)

    • Pension Maximization and Benefits Review - $500
